While retaining essential dive-watch features, including a unidirectional ceramic timing bezel, screw-down crown, screw-down case back, and 200-meter water resistance, the K012 stands out with its natural Sardonyx stone dial. Unlike conventional solid-color metal or enamel dials, Sardonyx offers distinctive natural textures and depth, making each patterned dial unique. The black dial delivers a rich, lustrous finish, while the orange version pairs its natural stone dial with a carefully color-matched ceramic bezel for a striking, cohesive look. Combined with BGW9 Super-LumiNova and the reliable ST2130 automatic movement, the K012 balances practical dive-watch functionality with the individual character of natural stone.
Design Story:
Creating the K012's orange dial and matching ceramic bezel required careful color coordination. Ceramic offers a relatively limited range of colors, making it challenging to find a shade that complements the natural Sardonyx dial while maintaining a balanced, cohesive appearance. Selecting the right stone was equally demanding. Sardonyx varies naturally in color, depth, and pattern; some pieces lacked visual texture, while others had lines that appeared too sharp or busy for the fluid, water-inspired concept of a dive watch. After extensive material selection and color matching, the final combination brings together the organic character of natural stone and the clean, functional geometry of a ceramic dive bezel. No two patterned Sardonyx dials are exactly alike, giving each K012 its own distinctive character.
